2.6 | How do this week’s practices/observations inform or influence your leadership?

Overall, my focus has been in releasing control and being more relaxed and open with my team.

I started and am still trying to listen for longer periods of time before reassuring og interrupting others as socially expected. This have led to better meetings at my work with some of my coworkers, based on my experiences from the wisdom circle I try to listen mindfully.
I also notice “my thoughts” and “comments and reactions” and have decided to let many drift past, as in meditation. This has given me a calmer workday, as I choose more carefully when to act and speak.

Listen listen listen. Instead of thinking about my next response, sitting still listening, and feeling my body. Often times what’s resulted is not the need to respond and instead just continue listening.
-
Learning to listen both externally and (more new to me) internally.

This week’s practices have truly impacted my leadership toolbox: I feel even more comfortable and empowered bringing my full self to work as my self-compassion expands. And I feel well equipped to start a conversation with my fellow leaders around important culture and values opportunities.

It seems to me that the only sensible response to our human condition is compassion (on the spectrum of tender <–> fierce, depending on what what’s required for the situation).
What can I do that would be of benefit to others? In tuning in to the suffering, and taking a stance of curiosity, openness, and compassion, as well as being fully embodied and present, I believe the next step will organically reveal itself to me- is it to listen, to console, to challenge? I’ve worked to undo the conditioning of judgment I’ve inherited (from family, culture, etc.), and am better able to come from curiosity and care. My intention going forward is to continue working on maintaining embodied presence in conversation!
