A Path of Healing: The Wisdom of the Somatic and Subtle Body
Starts September 5th
Your Body Holds the Key to Deep Transformation
Discover how subtle awareness and somatic intelligence can gently unlock deep healing—from the inside out.
A Healing Path That Transforms You from Within
True healing doesn’t come from analyzing what’s wrong—it comes from learning to feel what’s already here. In this 5-session experiential course, somatic pioneer Jill Satterfield guides you into the quiet intelligence of the body, where deep change begins not through effort, but through awareness, compassion, and the courage to reconnect.
You’ll explore how breath can regulate the nervous system and restore balance. You’ll learn to listen to sensation as the first language of emotion and energy, tracing the roots of thought and habit to their earliest physical stirrings. You’ll discover how imagination and subtle awareness can soften long-held patterns, and how kindness—when embodied, not just understood—can open the heart and build trust from within.
As you integrate these teachings, the body becomes more than a container for pain—it becomes a partner in your healing. What once felt fragmented begins to weave back together. And whether you’re here to support your own transformation or that of others, this course offers a rare opportunity to develop a deeply intuitive and embodied path toward wholeness.
What is the Subtle Body—and Why It Matters for Healing
Beneath muscles, bones, and obvious sensations lies the subtle body—a quiet, energetic landscape where emotion, memory, and potential live. It speaks through the felt sense: the delicate sensations and vibrations that arise before words or stories take shape.
By attuning to both the somatic and subtle layers, we notice not only tension or restlessness, but also the quiet signals that shape how we feel, move, and connect. These unseen patterns influence posture, breath, relationships, and even worldview.
When we listen here, the body softens, the heart opens, and healing unfolds—not through force, but through allowing. This is the invitation: to sense more deeply, respond more kindly, and trust the wisdom beneath the noise.
What’s Unique About This Course
Not all healing is visible. This course guides you beyond techniques—into the energetic and intuitive layers where transformation begins.
Healing that includes the subtle body—not just the physical one.
In addition to somatic awareness, Jill introduces you to the subtle body: the energetic, intuitive realm that lives beneath your muscles, bones, and thoughts. It’s where vibration, memory, and emotion first arise—shaping how you feel, breathe, and connect.
You’ll learn to sense the story before it becomes a story.
Before anxiety is a thought, it’s a flutter. Before grief takes form, it’s a contraction. When you sense what’s arising early—in the body and energy field—you can choose how to respond. That is agency. That is freedom.
Kindness is not a mindset—it’s a somatic experience.
This course helps you feel kindness in your tissues. In your breath. In your stance. Kindness that softens tension, builds trust with the self, and creates room for compassion to enter—not just as a concept, but as a lived experience.
Course Syllabus
Sometimes, healing begins not with words—but with a breath. A flicker of sensation. A quiet awareness of what’s alive in the body right now. This course invites you into that subtle space where true transformation begins—not by fixing what’s broken, but by listening deeply to the intelligence of your own body. Through the integration of somatic awareness and subtle body practices, you’ll learn to recognize the early signals of emotion, loosen conditioned patterns, and return to a grounded, compassionate presence.
Guided by somatic pioneer Jill Satterfield, this five-session experiential journey blends Buddhist wisdom, interoceptive sensing, nervous system regulation, and energetic awareness. You’ll explore breath as medicine, sensation as a gateway to insight, imagination as a tool for inner re-patterning, and kindness as a felt experience. Whether you’re on your own path of healing or supporting others on theirs, you’ll leave with a deeply embodied understanding of how healing unfolds—not from the outside in, but from the inside out.

About Jill Satterfield

Jill Satterfield has been a quiet pioneer in the integration of embodied awareness practices and Buddhist teachings for over 30 years.
Her heart/mind and body approach developed from somatic and contemplative psychology, 35 years of Buddhist study, extensive meditation retreat time and decades of living with chronic pain.
At the invitation of her primary teacher, Ajahn Amaro, Jill was the first to offer mindful movement and somatic practices on silent retreats first at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and then the Insight Meditation Society 30 years ago. She has since developed teacher trainings and mentoring programs that integrate embodied awareness with Dharma ever since.
In addition to teaching embodiment and Dharma with Ajahn Amaro, she was also invited to teach on Tsoknyi Rinpoche’s retreats in the US and Nepal. It was at his urging that she teach subtle body practices to his students. She contributed movement practices to his brother Mingyur Rinpoche’s retreats and was a consultant for his 2 best-selling books.
Jill’s Applied Embodied Mindfulness Trainings were part of UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center. She was on the faculty for Spirit Rock’s Mindful Yoga and Meditation Training, and she is currently a mentor for Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach’s Mindfulness Teacher Training. She was the scholar and teacher in residence at Kripalu Center in 2003 and is a graduate of the Sati Center’s Buddhist Chaplaincy Training.
Her organization School for Compassionate Action was a training and service organization that taught mindfulness and somatic practices for chronic pain, illness and post 9/11 trauma in NYC hospitals and at-risk facilities for over ten years. She has been featured in and has written for numerous publications such as Tricycle, Lion’s Roar and the NY Times.
